POST-GAME QUOTES
USC HEAD COACH HENRY BIBBY
General Comments
"We played well tonight. Defense was key. We made our shots, and got easy baskets on the press. I think that guys were hooked in to what we were doing offensively and defensively. The non-conference games really helped us - we played some good non-conference teams that helped us prepare for our conference season."
On being unselfish
"I thought that we had good intensity throughout. We moved to the basketball and made the extra pass. I thought we played very, very unselfish, and that made a big difference for us tonight."
On the play of the seniors (Granville, Clancy and Bluthenthal)
"When those guys play, they're pretty good, and you saw them play pretty good tonight. Those are the three guys that are going to have to carry us. Sometimes, we get maybe one, one-and-a-half of those guys to play, but all three played for us tonight and that was a big difference."
WASHINGTON HEAD COACH BOB BENDER
General Comments
On the USC press
"We were expecting the press because that is what USC has always done against us in the past and they have about three different presses they can use. Even when we broke it, we were tentative on offense. The zone was also effective because they saw the success that UCLA had against us."
On the lack of intensity
"The past two days in practice have been very disjointed and the concentration level was not there tonight, we were just going through the motions. We've dropped three games in a row and now we have to go on the road. I do think that losing to UCLA had an affect on the game tonight."
On Brandon Granville
"He was getting his shots in all kinds of ways tonight. We lost track of him in the zone and he was hitting the open shot. We tried to defend inside, and we were ineffective against him."
