Washington Gym Team Finishes Second at Florida

Gainesville, FL - The 10th-ranked Washington women's gymnastics team (4-2) finished second in a four-way meet at Florida that also included George Washington and Rhode Island. The seventh-ranked Lady Gators took top honors with a score of 196.950 while the Huskies scored 194.650. George Washington was third at 190.450 and Rhode Island fourth at 188.525.
Washington junior Emily Pritchard took first place in the all-around with a score of 39.325. Pritchard tied for first place on vault with a score of 9.900, finished fourth on bars at 9.875, was ninth on beam at 9.725 and scored 9.825 to place third on floor exercise. It marks the second consecutive meet that Pritchard won the all-around competition.
Husky senior Stacy Wong tied for first on balance beam (9.950) and on vault (9.900). Freshman Kelly McDonald also tied Pritchard for top honors on vault at 9.900. McDonald was third in the all-around with a score of 39.000.
The Huskies won the vault competition with a team score of 49.375, but suffered a poor night on floor exercise where they had a team score of 47.675.
Washington's next meet is Feb. 7 at Seattle Pacific.
