HEAD COACH June Daugherty
General Comments: "I was very proud of them. Arizona is a very big team. They're a big team and they're strong. We had opportunities and I think we come out of this game understanding what the Pac-10 is all about. They're a good team, we got better, and we're excited about that and we're going to build on this energy right into ASU. This was a huge step."
On team's performance: "I can't tell you how proud I am of them because they did everything we asked of them in this game. I thought we played way more physical and understanding how physical you can play in this league is very, very important. Coming right out of the gate against a very good Arizona team, I thought our team responded."
On shooting: "The kids understand that the shots are going to fall. We started to rain a little bit from three tonight, that was great to see, I think it gave us great energy. Dom (Banks) got loose on stuff underneath against their tall trees, so we're not going to let that stuff get going in our heads. We're not about that. These kids are about working hard and getting ready for the next one. We're going to build on a good game tonight."
On Polk: "First of all, I hope she's all right. She's a tremendous young person. We had the opportunity to have her on our campus recruiting-wise and I have the utmost respect for her and what she's done with her game. Our biggest thing is that we hope she's all right. Our best wishes are with her."
On O'Hara: "Maggie got her foot stepped on, I thought it was an ankle, but she tightened up her shoes and said, 'I'm ready to go, whatever it takes.' I thought at that critical point, she came in and really did a better job of boxing out down there and getting some rebounds that were key for us to stay in the run."
On aggressiveness: "I thought all the way around these guys were way more aggressive and way more physical about what they were doing. I saw an attack mode out of this team tonight and I liked what I saw. We're going to get ready for the next one because we loved what we saw."
GUARD Cheri Craddock
On slow start: "Once I got a couple of layins, I was ready to go back out and shoot a three."
On if they had this one: "I never try to get overconfident. I liked how we were down as much as 10 and people still played hard. We kept going at them and I thought as a team that was big for us."
GUARD Dominique Banks
On positive loss: "Oh yes, this was a very positive thing. It shows that we can keep our composure in tough times and we've been working on that. This is a huge step for us and we're making progress."
