WASHINGTON HEAD COACH June Daugherty
General Comments: "We have had the opportunity to play some great basketball teams this season, and I have to say that Stanford is by far better than any of the teams we've played. They've gotten better since the last time we played them in Palo Alto. They are a legitimate top two or three team in the country. I liked the fact that we were hanging with them for the first half. We had some defensive breakdowns, especially in transition, and our communication on the floor gave up too many open looks from three-point range. With a team like this, if you make a mistake they seem to make you pay and it really stings when you do."
On the momentum change in the second half: "It seemed like we came out really fired up and ready to go. We just needed to put two halves together and I thought after the two threes we just seemed to struggle defensively. We allowed too much in transition from them. They spread us out pretty good in that triangle. They were hot and after those two threes it seemed like our offense really sputtered."
On defending their larger players: "I thought in that first half we started out pretty well boxing out, and we were able to get into our running game. We didn't sustain that and we need to become more consistent on making sure that we are boxing out because they just had tremendous size."
On defensive play: "I thought defensively we sputtered a little bit in the second half, whether it was transitions or our talk on the switches. We were a step too far over on the post where you have to be a step towards the other way in order to guard the long-range three. The good news is is that up to this point that has been our strength, and it's just a matter of cleaning it up."

On sticking with Stanford: "Even going into halftime we weren't satisfied. We knew that we were better than that and needed to come out in the second half and improve even more. Unfortunately we didn't get the job done and they came out and hit some great shots."
On the physical nature of the game: "It was very physical. It is Pac-10, Division I basketball and we like it that way. We just need to get a couple more of those going in our favor."
