Junior Jon Brockman
On playing between NIT games: "I think there is a lot of excitement amongst our team looking forward to going to New York, looking forward to playing in the NIT. That makes it difficult to play in a game like this when you're already thinking about something that's coming up, but it's not an excuse at all. Basketball is basketball; you should be ready to play whenever."
On Eastern's comeback: "A lot of credit to Eastern. For a ball club to be down 24, a lot of teams in the nation anywhere, any level, they'll just give up at that point. They didn't give up, they kept coming. They played a lot better than we did in the second half."
Coach Lorenzo Romar
General Statement: "I was asked before to talk a little bit about Eastern Washington and I think I described them as quick and scrappy and they were. I thought we did a pretty good job in the first half and I thought, without discounting Eastern Washington at all, we lost a little concentration in the second half. That was disappointing but it's behind us and now we've got a big challenge in front of us in New York."
On letting the lead get cut down to 10: "We played a few more guys that hadn't played that many minutes just to let them play through their mistakes tonight. If you want to point to anything maybe that's what happened in the second half, but you don't want to say that. Everyone's in there and is making a case that they believe they should be a starter."
On Adrian Oliver: "He didn't practice the last few days because he had strained his knee. He'll be fine for New York."
On Justin Dentmon and Brockman's chemistry: "They've played a lot of games together, so you'd hope at this point that would start to happen with those guys. I think Justin playing off the ball has helped him tremendously and that he doesn't have the entire company in his hands, like he's able to delegate now. Other people can do some things and he can concentrate in some other areas.
EWU Head Coach Kirk Earlywine
General Comments: "We were certainly more competitive in the second half than we were in the first. I thought we probably got overwhelmed a little bit in the first half with Washington's length and quickness. In terms of what we were trying to do offensively, they did a good job of pressuring us out of it. Regardless, in the first half, we were back to where we were at New Mexico. No matter what is happening at the offensive end of the floor, we still have got to be competitive."
On Rebounding: "Our block-out was awful. We don't have the size, the length, or the athletic ability to not block out. We can't run to the front of the rim and think we are going to turn it into a run and jumping contest. Teams like Washington, Washington State, New Mexico - we are not going to win an athletic contest against them. "
On Jon Brockman: "He is a load down there. We knew that going into the game, and I wasn't sure that we were going to do anything to stop him or slow him down. For the most part we didn't. But you know what Utah couldn't either. There are a bunch of people in the Pac-10 that can't do much with him either - so we are not alone. "
