GAME NOTES

Pittsburgh snapped Washington's 31-game winning streak in non-conference home games. The Huskies' last home loss outside of Pac-10 play was an 86-62 setback against then 17th-ranked Gonzaga on Dec. 3, 2003.

Washington falls to 0-3 against ranked teams this year.

Panther Coach Jamie Dixon's record improved to 31-2 during December games and 57-3 against non-conference opponents.

UW junior forward Jon Brockman tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season and the 23rd of his career.

Ryan Appleby played for the first time this season, returning after missing the first seven games due to a fractured right thumb. Appleby made six 3-pointers, including 4-of-5 in the first half and one with 6.8 seconds left to draw Washington within the final one-point margin.

Washington implemented its third different starting lineup, opening the game with Joe Wolfinger, Jon Brockman, Joel Smith, Venoy Overton and Tim Morris. Wolfinger and Morris drew their first starts as Huskies.

Junior forward Jon Brockman and freshman guard Venoy Overton are the only Huskies to start all eight games this season. Brockman has started 71 of his 72 career games at UW, missing only the final regular-season game in 2006 to allow for a Husky senior to start. Brockman's consecutive games streak stands at 46 games.

Junior forward Artem Wallace played his most minutes of the season, 16, including key time in the second half when was 3-of-4 from the field for six points and three rebounds.
