Washington's Danielle Lawrie recorded just the 16th no-hitter in WCWS history, striking out nine to earn her 30th win of the season. It marked the first College World Series no-hitter in Washington program history.

Lawrie's no-hitter was the first in a World Series game since UCLA's Keira Goerl achieved the feat against California in 2003.

Lawrie joins UCLA's Tiffany Boyd (1989) and Lisa Fernandez (1993) as the only pitchers to record a no-hitter in the opening game of the World Series.

Thursday marked the first time in WCWS history that a pitcher threw a no-hitter while also giving up a run. Lawrie surrendered an unearned run after a walk and an error in the third inning.

Washington has won 10 of 11 games against the Blue Demons since 1995.

DePaul and Washington also faced each other in the opening game of the 2000 WCWS with the Huskies winning by a 3-2 margin.

Washington improved to 14-12 all-time in the WCWS, while DePaul fell to 2-7.

The three walks allowed by DePaul starting pitcher Tracie Adix gave her just 26 free passes surrendered this season. The last time Adix, the 2007 Big East Conference Pitcher of the Year, gave up more than one walk in a game was May 3 against Northwestern (her last loss in the circle).

The two-run home run surrendered by Adix to Washington's Dena Tyson in the fourth inning marked her first run allowed in the 2007 postseason, breaking a streak of 23.2 innings.

The home run by UW's Tyson in the third inning was her first since April 29 and 18th of the season.

Ashlyn Watson added a homer of her own in the fourth inning, her second of the year. The last time the Huskies recorded a multi-home run game was May 12 against Arizona (2).

Washington is making its eighth trip to the World Series and first since 2004. The Huskies were national runners-up in 1996 and 1999.

DePaul is making its fourth appearance in the WCWS and second in the last three years. The Blue Demons are the lowest seed (No. 14) to make it to Oklahoma City after sweeping No. 3 seed Oklahoma in Norman last weekend.
