The Washington game captains for today were wide receivers Marcel Reece and Anthony Russo and defensive linemen Greyson Gunheim and Daniel Te'o-Nesheim.

Today's win over the 22nd-ranked Broncos marked the Huskies first victory over a ranked team since a 27-19 win over eighth-ranked Washington State to cap the 2003 season. It was also the UW's first victory over a ranked, non-conference opponent since the Dawgs (No. 15 at the time) defeated 11th-ranked Michigan, 23-18, on the first day of the 2001 seasson.

Today's game also marks the first time that the UW has opened a season 2-0 since that 2001 season.

Washington has begun a season with a road game followed by a home game 18 times, including this season. In eight of those previous seasons, the Huskies won their opener on the road. In each of those eight years that the UW opened with a road win and played at home the following week, they had won all eight times. Today's win gave the Huskies a 9-0 record in that somewhat obscure scenario.

On the game's opening drive, a 78-yard scoring march for the Huskies, quarterback Jake Locker rushed for 36 yards on four carries, including the six-yard scoring run.

Husky cornerback Byron Davenport, who missed the Syracuse game due to a hamstring injury, make a tackle for a loss on his first play as a Husky. The transfer from UCLA tackled WR Vinny Perretta for a two-yard loss on a third-and-five play on the Broncos' first drive, leading to a punt on fourth down.

Washington senior Anthony Russo has now caught at least one pass in 26 straight games.

UW kicker Ryan Perkins, who missed all of last year after a right-knee injury, connected on his first career field-goal attempt, a 34-yard boot in the second quarter.

Senior defensive end Greyson Gunheim posted his first career interception midway through the second quarter.

Jake Locker's first career touchdown pass came on his 58-yard pass to Marcel Reece. It was only the second TD of Reece's career. His first was a 69-yard catch at Washington State last season.

The UW scored 14 points in the first quarter, a higher opening-quarter total than in any game last year. The last time the Huskies had as many as 14 points in the first quarter was in the 2004 game vs. UCLA, when the Huskies posted 24 points in the first. The last time the UW scored 24 points in the first half was also in that same '04 game vs. the Bruins (the Huskies scored 24 in the first and none in the second in that one).

The pre-game flyover was provided by the U.S. Navy. Two A-10 jets flew over Husky Stadium just prior to the start of the National Anthem.

Senior Jordan Reffett blocked a field goal in the third quarter. It was the first blocked field goal by a Husky since Larry Tripplett blocked an Idaho attempt in the 2001 season.

Boise State's Ryan Clady blocked a field goal early in the fourth quarter. That was the first time a UW field-goal try had been blocked since the 2004 Fresno State game.

Today's attendance of 70,045 was the largest at Husky Stadium since the 2005 Apple Cup (the last game of that season). The attendance that day was 70,713.
