SEATTLE - The annual Purple and Gold Washington Gymnastics Intrasquad meet will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena. The event is free for all. Normal parking rates on campus will apply. For parking in E1 please bring $6 exact change.
The Washington gymnasts will split into two teams, one Purple and one Gold and compete on all four events. The Purple team will be the "home" team for the event and includes: Paige Bixler, Aliza Vaccher, Allison Northey, Sheridan Metcalf, Phoebe Tham and Madison Podlucky.
The Gold team is made up of: Lauren Rogers, Megan Whitney, McKenzie Fechter, Kiersten Graber, Jackie McCartin, Kylie Sharp and Eliza Barach.
While official judges will be in attendance, scores will not be announced. Instead, celebrity judges such as former Huskies Kristen Linton, Ruby Engreitz and Haley Bogart along with a surprise group of Husky staff members will pick a winner after a routine from each team.
A silent auction will be held starting when the doors open to the arena at 5:30 p.m. Items include: a signed Husky volleyball, a signed Lorenzo Romar basketball, a signed women's basketball, a free pass to the Husky gymnastics camp, guest appearances from the GymDawgs at practices and birthday parties and a lot more. Fans can bid on the items halfway through the meet on the main concourse and then for 20 minutes at the conclusion of the meet up in the Founder's Club. Winners of the auction will be announced during the 5th Event.
The 5th Event happens in the Founder's Club after every home gymnastics meet. All fans are welcome to join the GymDawgs upstairs for refreshments, schedule magnets, posters and autographs all for free.
The GymDawgs want to make the event interactive and fun for the celebrity judges and audience members. Fans are encouraged to bring signs for the favorite 2013 gymnast and wear the color of the team they would like to cheer for.
Tickets for the 2013 season go on sale Jan. 2, 2013.
