SEATTLE –Allison Northey from the gymnastics team has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 11-17.
The freshman from nearby Sammamish, Wash., won her first collegiate all-around title helping the Huskies to their best team score in the modern scoring era (2005) of 196.625. Washington defeated BYU and SPU in the final home meet of 2013 on Friday night.
Northey posted a 39.300 in the AA and set new career-highs on vault (9.875), bars (9.850) and floor (9.775) and went 9.800 on beam.
She tied for second on vault, third on bars and placed fourth on beam.
UW posted a 49+ on all four events for the first time on the year and set team season-highs on three of the four events.
Other nominees include: Kaitlin Inglesby (softball), Andrew Ely (baseball), Scott Suggs (men's basketball), Kyle McMorrow (men's tennis) and Riko Shimizu (women's tennis).
