WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior Lauren Rogers (Plains, Pa.) became the first Husky gymnast since Hatsune Akaogi in 2009, and just the second under head coach Joanne Bowers, to earn all-conference honors in the all-around.
The Pac-12 announced the all-conference teams on Wednesday and Rogers earned her first-ever conference honor, making the first-team.
"Lauren has been a great co-captain of our team this year and shows it by how she competes, practices and handles her academics," said Bowers. "It is such an honor for Lauren and for UW Gymnastics for her to be named first-team all-conference. She is very deserving and we couldn't be more proud."
Rogers has been the top all-around competitor for the Huskies all season, continually breaking her own career record. Last week at the Pac-12 Championships, she set a new career-high of 39.425 to tie for the lead in the first session.
She won nine individual event titles during the season and four in the all-around. Rogers won the AA against Utah on Feb. 15 in which the Huskies tied one of the top teams in the country. She also won the title on Jan. 18 in the home quad meet, on Feb. 1 vs. Arizona and on Feb. 22 at Arizona State.
The All-Pac-12 team is determined by a combination of 50 percent regional qualifying score (entire season composite) and 50 percent Conference Championship score. The All-Conference team consists of the top six all-around competitors, plus the top three competitors in each individual event who are not among the all-around honorees.
