
Six Huskies Earn All-Academic Honors

SEATTLE –The Pac-12 Conference has released the Women's Gymnastics All-Academic teams. This year six Huskies were selected to the academic team.
Junior Aliza Vaccher and senior Meg Whitney both received first-team All-Academic honors. This is Whitney's second first-team selection. Whitney posted her career-high vault score this season with a 9.900 against BYU/SPU.
Vaccher, a psychology major from Eugene, Ore., earned her second All-Academic distinction. Vaccher posted a career-high 39.275 at NCAA Regionals this year, which qualified her as an alternate for NCAA Nationals. Vaccher advanced to NCAA Nationals her freshman and sophomore years in the all-around.
Sophomore McKenzie Fechter earned second-team All-Academic honors. The undeclared major scored career-highs this season in beam (9.850) and floor (9.875).
Paige Bixler, Lauren Rogers and Phoebe Tham earned Honorable Mention All-Academic. The three seniors led the GymDawgs this season both in the classroom and in the gym. This is Rogers' third All-Academic selection. After scoring a 39.375 at NCAA Regionals, Rogers qualified to compete as an individual all-around gymnast at Nationals this weekend. This season Rogers won nine individual events, one shy of her personal-best.
Bixler, the Rowlett, Texas native, was named co-captain alongside Rogers this season. Bixler anchored the team throughout the majority of the season on beam, and won the event against BYU. She tied a career-high this season at Pac-12's on floor with a 9.875.
Bars specialist Tham earned her second career academic All-Academic honors. The North Vancouver, B.C., Canada native posted her career-high on bars this season with a 9.875 at the Metroplex Challenge.
