
Doubles Advance to Round of 16 at USTA/ITA NW Regional Championships

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Washington women's tennis team had two doubles pairs stay alive on Saturday and advance to the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Stanford University.
Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Sihmizu defeated Pacific's Gergana Boncheva and Francis Dean, 8-4 while newcomer Miki Kobayashi and sophomore Grace Ysidora outlasted Kamila Kecki and Frederique Sleiffer of UC Davis 8-3.
Douglas-Miron and Shimizu will next face Stanford's second-seeded duo Carol Zhao and Taylor Davidson while Kobayashi and Ysidora will take on Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita of Oregon.
In singles action, Douglas-Miron and Julija Lukac both advanced out of the round of 32 before falling in the round of 16. Douglas-Miron handled St. Mary's Parminder Kaur, 6-1, 6-2 before dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to third-seeded Zsoft Susanyi of California. Lukac became one of five unseeded players to earn a spot in the round of 16 as she defeated Cal's Cecilia Estlander, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Lukac eventually fell to fourth-seeded Carolyn Doyle of Stanford 6-0, 6-1.
