
Huskies Run Ends in Doubles Round of 16 at USTA/ITA NW Regional Championships

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Washington women's tennis team ended its run at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships Sunday as the remaining two doubles pairs fell in the round of 16.
Douglas-Miron and Shimizu had the tough task of facing second-seeded Carol Zhao and Taylor Davidson of Stanford and ended their run with an 8-2 decision in the Cardinal's favor. The Husky duo advanced to the Round of 16 for the second-straight year and picked up 8-4, and 8-3 wins en route to their round of 16 match.
Playing together for the first time freshman Miki Kobayashi and sophomore Grace Ysidora found their rhythm early in the tournament earning 8-5 and 8-3 wins to advance to the round of 16 where they faced Oregon's Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita. The match was the only one in the round of 16 that went to a tiebreak with the Ducks' duo coming out on top, 8-7 (3).
Up next, the Huskies return to California for the St. Mary's Invitational on October 24.
