
Huskies Stay Undefeated at Home With 6-1 Win Over SDSU

SEATTLE – The No. 41 University of Washington women's tennis stayed perfect at the Nordstrom Tennis Center this season with a 6-1 victory over San Diego State on Friday afternoon. The Dawgs are now 6-1 on the season and will host St. Mary's (California) on Sunday at Noon.
The Dawgs opened doubles play with Julija Lukac and Andjela Nemcevic posting an 8-2 victory over Tami Nguyen and Kennedy Davis of San Diego State. Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Shimizu followed that up with an 8-5 defeat of Laura Antonana and Kristin Buth giving the Dawgs the doubles point.
In singles action, Natali Coronel started the Dawgs off right with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hailey Johnson. After Grace Ysidora was defeated by Laura Antonana in the number one spot (6-1,6-3), the Huskies went on to win the remaining four matches. Three of those went to three sets with Douglas-Miron, Lukac and Nemcevic each coming out on the winning side.
After dropping her first set, Douglas-Miron bounced back with two 6-1 triumphs. Lukac outlasted Tami Nguyen 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 while Nemcevic's match took the longest in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory. Shimizu also picked up a win in the number five spot with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Dora Somoracz.
The Huskies remain at home for their next match as they host St. Mary's (California) at Noon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
