GymDawgs Set To Host Annual Purple & Gold Meet

SEATTLE – UW gymnastics will hold its yearly intrasquad Purple & Gold Meet this Friday, Nov. 20 at Alaska Airlines Arena. The event begins at 7 p.m. PT and admission is free.
“This is the first chance we have to compete in front of our fans and show all the hard work we've put into the offseason so far,” UW head coach Joanne Bowers said. “We're looking forward to creating a meet-like atmosphere and giving the gymnasts an opportunity to perform. It'll be a really fun night.”
The Purple & Gold Meet will be the first chance to fans to see the 2016 UW gymnastics team, including the freshman class of 2016, the three newest GymDawgs. The meet will also show off alterations and improvements in the GymDawgs' routines, including new floor routines with new music.
This year's Purple & Gold Meet includes opportunities for friends and family of the GymDawgs to support UW gymnastics. A silent auction will take place throughout the meet, where fans can bid on items such as tickets to a men's basketball game, a signed volleyball, signed men's and women's basketballs, a signed copy of the bestseller “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown accompanied by a tour of the Conibear Shellhouse, and rounds of golf at Washington National, among other items.
Following the meet, the GymDawgs will also host a Fifth Event in the Founder's Club. The silent auction will continue into the Fifth Event and the auction items will be awarded at the conclusion. The GymDawgs will be giving away and signing posters and will be available to meet and greet those in attendance.
Fans can sign up to be a part of the 10.0 Booster Club during the Fifth Event.
“We're really grateful for those who support our program and love to interact with them,” Bowers said. “Their support plays a huge role in our program and we appreciate it so much.”
The GymDawgs open their season on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Alaska Airlines Arena against Ohio State.
