December 06, 2015 | Football
SEATTLE — The University of Washington football team will make its 36th bowl game appearance Dec. 26, when the Huskies take on Southern Miss in the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl at the Cotton Bowl stadium.
The game, which kicks off at 1:20 p.m. CT/11:20 a.m. PT and airs on ESPN, will feature the first-ever matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Huskies. Southern Miss finished its season 9-4 overall and 7-2 in Conference USA, falling to Western Kentucky in the conference championship game. Washington won its final two games of the year over Oregon State and Washington State to finish with a 6-6 record.
The game also marks the UW's first game at the Cotton Bowl, which originally opened in 1930.
The Huskies have earned a bowl berth for a sixth consecutive season. Among Pac-12 programs, only Stanford and Oregon can claim longer active streaks than that.
The Washington players and coaches will depart for Dallas on Dec. 21 and spend the week there before game day on Saturday, Dec. 26.
