GymDawgs Continue Pac-12 Competition At Arizona
February 25, 2016 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – After posting season-high scores in consecutive meets, No. 27 UW gymnastics will head to Tucson, Ariz., to take on the No. 25 Arizona Wildcats in search of the GymDawgs third straight strong performance.
“At this point, we are all about consistency and improvement,” UW head coach Joanne Bowers said. “We couldn't be more pleased with the last two meets, but the next step for us is to continue to get the job done and put together another great meet.”
The GymDawgs posted event scores above 49.000 on all four events for the first time this season against UCLA to score a new season-high 196.450 following a 196.250 at Utah. That consistency had eluded the GymDawgs in 2016, but Bowers is hopeful that her team can continue to perform at a high level.
“We really just need everyone to do their jobs, and we've been doing that,” Bowers said. “One of our areas of emphasis is our landings – that was a strong point against UCLA, but we think we can be even better and improve our scores. These gymnasts have put in the hard work day after day and we hope we keep reaping the rewards.”
