February 28, 2016 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – Senior captain Allison Northey posted a 39.500 in the all-around, the second-best all-around score of her career, as the GymDawgs scored a 195.350 against Arizona on Saturday, March 27, at the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz. The Wildcats finished with a score of 196.100 to win the meet.
“We had some great individual performances in this meet, but we weren't satisfied with our performance as a team,” head coach Joanne Bowers said. “We want to consitently put together four events and we didn't accomplish that tonight. That being said, Allie was really amazing. She has worked hard to become the caliber of gymnast she is today and she had a great meet.”
Northey won three event titles and finished in the top-3 in all four events, tying a season-high on vault and setting a new personal-best on beam. Fellow captain Kaitlyn Duranczyk won the bars title as the GymDawgs swept all four event titles.
“My goal in every meet is to get better, so to be able to improve a personal-best and finish with a 39.500 is a great feeling,” Northey said. “Obviously we didn't quite put together the meet we would've liked, but we know what we are capable of and need to be consistently at our best going forward.”
