
Huskies Sweep Friday Doubleheader

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – No. 8 Washington took both games of the second day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in shutout fashion against Long Beach State, 11-0 in six innings, and UC San Diego, 7-0.
Washington is now 12-3 overall on the season.
Over the two games, Washington hit .403 as a team while holding opponents to a .167 average. The Dawgs also stole six bases and tallied 10 extra base hits.
#8 WASHINGTON 11, LONG BEACH STATE 0 (6 inn.)
Washington combined for 14 hits in the game with five Huskies that recorded multi-hits – Baylee Klingler (4), Kinsey Fiedler (2), Sami Reynolds (2), Sydney Stewart (2) and SilentRain Espinoza (2). Klingler record two doubles, while Fiedler and Reynolds had one. Madison Huskey had her first triple of the season.
Reynolds (3), Fiedler (2), Stewart (2) and Avery Hobson (2) had multi-RBI games.
Ruby Meylan (5-0) recorded her third shutout of the season while adding 10 strikeouts and only five hits allowed.

3rd: Reynolds singled through the right side, advanced to second on the throw, RBI; Fiedler advanced to third, out at home; Huskey scored.

Kelley Lynch (2-1) had another stellar outing, recording her second straight shutout. Lynch allowed three hits with 11 strikeouts. Offensively, Lynch went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of doubles.
Freshman Sydney Stewart went 2-for-4 during the game with an RBI. She hit .667 on the day with three RBI.
Madison Huskey and Kinsey Fiedler were the first Huskies to hit back-to-back home runs this season, doing so in the fifth inning.
