
Akulov, Bowton Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards

SEATTLE - Egor Akulov and Jadon Bowton earned weekly awards following the dominant 5-0 victory over Ohio State on Friday. Akulov claims his first ever conference Defensive Player of the Week award while Bowton gets his third career Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week award.
The pair were instrumental in preserving the clean sheet against the Buckeyes, playing a combined 177 minutes in the match.
Bowton faced a season-high 15 shots in the match and also made a season-high six saves in the victory. He now has four shutouts on the season and seven wins.
The graduate student goalkeeper has allowed just one goal in his last five games while leading Washington to a win in each match. He has also brought his goals against average down to 0.81 and his save percentage up to 0.733.
Akulov has been a force for the Huskies back line, leading the Dawgs defensively this season. He has more minutes played than any other player on the team at 1298 and has played the full 90 in nine of the 15 matches.
The junior defender made multiple key defensive stops against the Buckeyes to preserve the clean sheet, which was Washington's fifth shutout in the last six games.
