April 22, 2025 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE – Carina Syrtveit has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week following the last week of the regular season, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second league honor for Syrtveit, who earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors February 26.
The freshman earned league recognition this week after helping lead the Huskies to two wins at home to close out the Big Ten regular season, going 3-0 across both matches.
On April 18 against No. 73 Nebraska, Syrtveit picked up a doubles and singles victory. She and No. 3 doubles partner McKenna Koenig defeated the Huskers' Trigosso/Miyoshi 6-4 in the Huskies' sole doubles win.
She also defeated Miyoshi in singles play 7-5, 6-3, as the Oslo, Norway native is now 15-4 at No. 6 singles.
On Senior Day Sunday in a matchup with No. 32 Iowa, Syrtveit and Koenig helped clinch the doubles point for the Huskies, defeating an Iowa pair 6-3 to improve to 14-4 as a No. 3 doubles duo.
