Three Dawgs Selected To All-Big Ten Teams
April 23, 2025 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE – Reece Carter, Erika Matsuda, and Carina Syrtveit all earned All-Big Ten postseason honors, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Carter earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team, Matsuda was selected to All-Big Ten Second Team, and Syrtveit was one of 10 first-year student-athletes on the league's All-Freshman Team.
In addition to Second Team recognition, Matsuda was also named a sportsmanship honoree. Each of the league's 18 teams selects one student-athlete that exemplifies sportsmanship, ethical behavior, a strong academic standing, and good citizenship off the court.
This is the third straight First Team selection for Carter, who earned All-Pac-12 First Team twice in her first two seasons at Arizona.
The junior has played at No. 1 singles and doubles for the entirety of Big Ten play this season, going 11-5 in dual matches this spring and 12-6 in doubles action with Alexia Jacobs.
This also marks the third postseason honor for Matsuda, who earned All-Pac-12 recognition in each of her first two seasons as a Husky.
Matsuda holds a 9-2 record at No. 2 singles and is 8-6 in doubles with Sophie Luescher.
Syrtveit adds All-Big Ten Freshman team to her resume after being tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice during the regular season.
The freshman earned the weekly nod Feb. 26 after going 3-1 in Husky wins over the San Diego schools as well. She is also the conference's current Freshman of the Week thanks to a 3-0 record in the final weekend of Big Ten play.
Syrtveit holds a 14-4 record at No. 3 doubles with McKenna Koenig and is 15-4 at No. 6 singles for the Huskies. She finished the regular season winning seven of her final 10 singles matches.
