
Carter, Matsuda, And Luescher Earn Academic All-District

SEATTLE – Juniors Reece Carter and Erika Matsuda along with senior Sophie Luescher were all recently honored as Academic All-District Team members by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). One of the highest collegiate honors combining academic and athletic distinction, the All-District Team requires a cumulative 3.50 grade point average and significant on-court contributions.
All three Huskies were integral pieces of the Washington lineup this season to help the team reach the Big Ten semifinals and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Carter and Matsuda each split time at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Carter went 12-7 overall in singles play while Matsuda put up a 12-5 record, including 9-2 at No. 2 singles. Carter is majoring in real estate and owns a 3.53 GPA and Matsuda boasts a 3.9 GPA in Food Systems, Nutrition, & Health.
Matsuda and Luescher teamed up at No. 2 doubles for a majority of the season and Luescher finished her senior campaign 15-5 at No. 5 singles. Luescher is majoring in International Studies and owns a 3.83 GPA.
