Mandaquit, Steinbach Set For FIBA U19 World Cup

LAUSANNE, Switzerland β A pair of freshmen for the Washington men's basketball team will be on the World stage as JJ Mandaquit and Hannes Steinbach compete for their home countries at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup.

Mandaquit will don the Stars and Stripes for Team USA, competing in Group D with Australia, Cameroon and France. Meanwhile, Steinbach and Team Germany will square off with China, Canada and Slovenia in Group B.

Mandaquit and the Americans are considered the favorites to lift the World Cup trophy, taking the top spot in the initial Smart Power Rankings, while Steinbach and Germany pose the biggest threat at No. 2.

Group play action begins on Saturday, with Germany taking on Slovenia at 5:30 a.m. PT and the US battling Australia at 8:15 a.m. Full group play schedules for Team USA and Germany can be found below.
