Molitor, Quinton, Drummond Earn Medals At 2025 World Championships
September 27, 2025 | Men's Rowing
Three Washington Rowing alumni earned medals early Saturday morning at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China, as Archie Drummond won silver and both Madison Molitor and Pieter Quinton earned bronze in the men's eight final.
Those three Huskies join four others who have earned medals already. Two days ago, the UW duo of Jess Thoennes and Holly Drapp won a bronze medal in the U.S. women's pair. Yesterday, American Teal Cohen and her women's four won the gold medal, while Gert-Jan van Doorn earned bronze in the Dutch four.
Saturday evening (Pacific Time; Sunday morning in Shanghai) will bring the regatta to a close. At 11:31, Dutchman Simon van Dorp will race in the men's single sculls A final, while a bit earlier (10:25 p.m.), Logan Ullrich of New Zealand rows in the singles B final.
In a new event for the World Championships, several Huskies will row in the Mixed 8+ competition, which features eight-oared crews consisting of four men and four women, as well as a coxswain of either gender. All of the Huskies rowing in that event also competed in other race categories at the regatta.
The Mixed 8+ will hold heats at 7:19 and 7:25, with the top three in each returning for the final event of the regatta, the A final, at 11:57 p.m. late Saturday
Aisha Rocek (Italy) will row in the first heat, while five Husky alumni will row in the second: van Doorn (NED), Tabea Schendekehl (Germany) and Americans Cohen, Nina Castagna and Chris Carlson.
