SEATTLE - Jan Chlodnicki and Soham Purohit walk away from the ITA Northwest Regional Championships with more than a doubles title and a spot in the NCAA Doubles Championship, earning Big Ten Freshman and Player of the Week honors.
In his first ITA tournament, Chlodnicki earned the ITA Northwest Doubles Championship title alongside partner Soham Purohit. The duo won all five of their doubles matches, including three tiebreakers, to secure the title and qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships. Chlodnicki and Purohit defeated Portland State's Maas Schotanus and Aarjun Pandit, 6-2, 4-0 (ret.), in the championship match. With the honor, Chlodnicki becomes the first Husky in Washington men's tennis program history to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Purohit advanced to the singles quarterfinals while claiming the doubles title with Chlodnicki. He finished the tournament with an 8-1 overall record on his home courts, advancing to the singles quarterfinals and posting a 3-1 record in singles play. Purohit becomes just the second Husky in Washington men's tennis program history to be named Big Ten Player of the Week.
