Let’s Dance! Huskies Earn NCAA Tournament Bid
March 15, 2026 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — For the second straight season, the Washington women's basketball team is NCAA Tournament bound.
The Huskies will meet 11th-seeded South Dakota State on Friday, March 20 at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, the NCAA Selection Committee announced on ESPN. Tip-off is set for 11:30 a.m. PT. This is the highest seed Washington has earned since the 2017 season, and marks the 20th NCAA Tournament bid in school history.
Washington finished the regular season 21-10 and 10-8 in Big Ten play, reaching the quarterfinals in last week's Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The Huskies sit at No. 25 in the NET and have claimed six Quad 1 victories this season.
UW faced 15 opponents in the field of 68 this season — earning victories against nine of those squads. Washington also beat some of the Big Ten's highest ranked NET teams during the 2025-26 campaign — No. 6 Michigan, No. 9 Minnesota, No. 14 Maryland, No. 22 USC, and No. 24 Oregon.
Sunday marked another milestone in the complete transformation of the Husky program under head coach Tina Langley. Taking over a team that was last in the Pac-12, Washington has now made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in nine seasons.
Friday will be the first time the Huskies and Jackrabbits have ever met.
