May 08, 2026 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE - Washington Men's Tennis has signed another top prospect for the 2026-27 season. Jan Chlodnicki from Osiny, Poland is set to make his way to Montlake in time for the fall campaign.
Jan will make his way to Washington, after spurning the SEC's Texas A&M, with plenty of experience against top ranked competition, as Chlodnicki is a top-ranked player out of Poland and currently ranked as the No. 127 ITF Juniors player according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. Jan will arrive on campus having achieved incredible success in the juniors scene, having won multiple titles in J100 & J60 in 2025 and J60 & J30 in 2024. From his final two junior seasons, Chlodnicki went 38-31 from 69 matches, culminating in a Juniors Grand Slam Appearience at the Australian Open this past season and an M15 appearance in 2025.Β
Head Coach Rahim Esmail had this to say of the incoming freshman, "Jan is a world class player who has established himself as one of the top 40 ranked junior players in the world at one point. He has the potential to be an elite college tennis player - his work ethic and his desire to competeΒ at the highest level are characteristics that we want in our program. Jan is a great addition to one of the best recruiting classes we have had in years."Β
Jan joins a projected top-25 class of prospects, Penn Charusorn and Sebastian Gampert, on Montlake for the upcoming fall quarter. This class projects to be one of the best in program history, and the highest-ranked under Coach Esmail, as prior to this season, the Huskies have peaked at the No. 15 class in 2020; while finishing with the No. 17 in 2015 and 2007, the No. 19 in 2009, and No. 23 in 2011.Β Β
