Robles Earns Lou Groza Award Preseason Nod

SEATTLE – Washington fourth-year kicker Tyler Robles has earned a spot on the Lou Groza Award 35-man preseason watch list, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced today.
The Big Ten Conference has nine of the 35 kickers on the preseason watch list.
Robles, a transfer from Texas State, will make his Montlake debut this season as the Huskies host the Boeing Apple Cup on Sunday, September 6. Robles earned second team All-Sun Belt honors last season with the Bobcats as he handled all field goals and PATs during the 2025 season, making 21-of-23 field goals and 53-of-54 PATs. He led the team in scoring with 116 points, a Texas State record for points in a season. His 21 field goals made were also a TSU record and was tied for the lead in the Sun Belt Conference. Robles finished the season ranked eighth in the nation in field goal percentage, 10th in scoring, 11th in total points and 17th in field goals per game. Robles was 3-of-4 on field goals over 50 yards and did not miss a kick last season under 40 yards, going 17-for-17.
Among returning FBS kickers who made at least 20 field goals last season, no one had a better rate than Robles' 91.3% accuracy.
Accomplishments are tabulated throughout the season and the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award will announce its 20 semifinalists on Tuesday, November 17. From this list, a panel of more than 100 FBS head coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza finalists, and current NFL kickers selects the top three finalists for the award, announced on Tuesday, November 24. That same group then selects the national winner, who will be announced on Thursday, December 10 during the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
The 35th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, presented by the Orange Bowl, recognizes the three finalists during a celebration in Palm Beach County, culminating with a banquet gala on December 7 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
