Moll Wins Overall Diamond League Championship

SEATTLE – Calling it the "biggest title of [her] career," Husky superstar Hana Moll became the first UW athlete to win the championship at the elite Diamond League Finals, soaring to another new personal-best at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
Moll won Diamond League titles in Lausanne and Zurich over the past three weeks in order to qualify for the finals in Brussels, and she remained undaunted on the huge stage today, making a career-best 16-1 1/4 or 4.91-meters, a mark that appropriately enough ties her with Amanda Moll for No. 9 in world history.
"I feel great, it took a lot of work to get here and then the perfect execution on the day to take home the trophy," said Hana. "I have a lot of great people around me that believe in me and have made nice steps in joining them in that belief. My first two Diamond League wins definitely helped me in not being overwhelmed going into this Final. Any bar over 4.90 is incredible, but it´s pretty special to now have the same PB as my sister Amanda."
The three-time NCAA Champion was in the lead today from the jump and never relinquished it, clearing five heights in a row on first attempts. The fourth of those clearances came at 15-9, and only one other woman cleared that height, Angelica Moser of Switzerland, the current European Champion. When Moll made 15-11 1/4 again on a first attempt, and Moser missed, the Swiss passed her next two attempts to the next height.
The bar went to 16-1 1/4 (4.91m), one centimeter above Moll's PR from her win in Zurich. Moll finally had a couple of misses there, but Moser could not clear on her two chances, and so Moll had secured the title. But she had one chance left, and this time she got up and over to win with an exclamation point.
Moll didn't stop there; she took three chances at 4.96-meters or 16-3 1/4 which would have retaken the world lead and put her at No. 5 in world history, but that mark stayed out of reach today.
