Bay Area schools make rare trek to Pacific Northwest.

SEATTLE- The Washington women's tennis team (1-0) plays host to seventh-ranked California (1-0) and fifth-ranked Stanford this week. The Bay Area teams are making a rare trek to the Northwest as part of the new Pac-10 policy. The Huskies face California Thursday, Jan. 29, at 1:30 p.m. and will play Stanford on Sunday, Feb. 1 at noon. All matches will be held in the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington enters the week ranked 61st in the latest ITA rankings.
Cal leads the all-time 18-0 series over the Huskies. Cal has six players ranked among the nation's top 110 in singles as well as two doubles tandems ranked in the top 50. Leading the Bears is No. 32 Amanda Augustus who recently won the Pac-10 Indoor title in Flight 1 singles. With the championship, Augustus improved her pre-dual match record to 8-2.
Stanford boasts two singles players ranked in the top 15 and two doubles teams ranked in the top 10 of the latest ITA poll. The Cardinal is led by No. 10 Teryn Ashley who also teams with Anne Kremer to form a 9th-ranked doubles tandem.
Washington opened its dual match season with an 9-0 victory over Idaho last week. The Huskies are led by the singles plays of freshman Kristina Kraszewski and sophomore Zuzana Stunova. Kraszewski is currently ranked 34th in the nation and carries a 10-3 record into her second collegiate dual match. Stunova, ranked 27th, owns a 9-4 record.
