Huskies Battle Wind and Rain at ASU Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Washington women's golf team carded a first day total of 317 and stands in 12th place after 18 holes at the Ping/ASU Invitational Thursday. Texas Christian and Duke are in the lead, playing in cold, windy and rainy conditions and finishing with a 16-over 304 on the par 72, 6,101-yard Karsten Golf Course.
Dukes Beth Bauere leads the individual standings, finishing the day with an even par 72. ASU's Grace Park is second at 1-over 73, followed by eight players, including UWs Kelli Kamimura in a tie for third place at 3-over 75. Kamimura carded a 36 on the front nine, followed by a 39 on the back.
Washington's next player did not come in until Jennifer Stapleton carded a 7-over par 79 to stand in a tie for 39th place. Elisha Au was next at 61st with an 81, followed by Paola Bellotti at 67th (82) and Andrea Cordova at 83rd (85).
Round two of the Invitational begins at 8 a.m. Friday with the final 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
