Women's Tennis Team Defeated by No. 5 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The Washington women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by fifth-ranked Stanford (4-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Huskies are ranked 42nd by the latest ITA poll.
In one of the more dueling matches of the meet, Cardinal freshman Gabriela Lastra defeated Ilona Kordonskaya 7-5, 7-6 after more than two hours of play.
Playing No. 3 doubles, Washington's Jennifer Svanfeldt and Zeta Wagner held off four match points while down 7-1, to win the next two games. But Stanford's Jennifer Heiser and Keiko Tokuda pulled out the victory 8-3.
Washington resumes tennis action in two weeks by playing host to New Mexico on Friday, Feb.12, at 1:30 pm and cross-state rival Washington State on Sunday, Feb.14, at noon. All matches will be played in the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center
