UW Men's Golf to Compete at ASU Invite

COMING UP: The Washington men's golf team heads to Arizona State April 15th for the Thunderbird Invite. The competition will take place on the par-72, 7,027-yard Karsten Golf Course. The Huskies placed eighth in the event last season.The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, April 15th, and finish off with a final round on Sunday.
THE FIELD: Washington will challenge the following teams at the Thunderbird Invitational: No. 11 Arizona, No. 5 Arizona State (two teams), No. 42 California, No. 44 Colorado State, No. 10 Fresno State, No. 13 New Mexico, No. 37 Oklahoma, No. 33 Oregon, No. 30 Oregon State, Swedish National Team, No. 38 TCU, No. 25 UCLA, No. 8 UNLV, No. 29 USC, No. 17 Washington, No. 105 Washington State. All rankings are based on the April 12th Sagarin Golf Rankings.
LAST TIME: The two-tournament win streak ended for the 21st-ranked Washington men's golf team, which finished sixth in a field of 20, with a score of 864, at the San Jose State-hosted Western Intercollegiate. Fresno State captured the tournament title, finishing with a score of 838, and tying this season's national low score for one round after carding a 266 in the first round. Pepperdine was runner-up with a team-total of 845. Husky sophomore Gordy Scutt recorded his second third-place finish in as many weeks, tying Oregon's Ryan LaVoie with a 1-under 209. The third-place finish was Scutt's fourth career top-10 finish. Pepperdine's Jason Allred took the individual title with an 11-under score of 199, including a mark of 63 in the second round. Ryan King of Fresno State was next in at 207.
