Kelly Named to American Squad for U.S. vs. Japan Series

Seattle - Washington sophomore golfer Troy Kelly has been selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America to participate in this year's United States vs. Japan Series. The 25th annual event will be held June 25-July 1 in Rancho Murietta, Calif. Kelly, a native of Bremerton, will compete with the Washington golf team this week at the NCAA Championships May 31-June 3 at the Grand National Course at the University of Auburn. Last year Kelly was the runner-up at the NCAA Championships as a freshman.
Kelly opened the 1999-2000 season by winning the Topy Cup at the Tanagura Country Club in Japan with a score of 143. Kelly currently leads the Huskies with a 72.4 stroke average through 42 rounds of play this year.
Kelly will be joined on the United States team by David Bennett (North Florida), Jeff Quinney (Arizona State), Ryan King (Fresno State), Matt Kraus (Duke), Chad Collins (Methodist), John Davis (Grand Canyon) and Daniel Paniccia (Fresno State). The men's team will be coached by Robert Linville of Greensboro College.
