Diamond Dawgs Move Up In Polls

May 3, 2004
SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team (26-14-1 overall, 10-5 Pac-10) earned the No. 21 spot in the Baseball America rankings, released today. The Huskies also jumped from No. 21 to No. 16 in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll.
The Huskies, second place in the Pac-10 standings, will play host to No. 1 Stanford (35-6 overall, 10-2 Pac-10) this weekend at Husky Ballpark. The Cardinal, who swept Washington State last weekend in Palo Alto, moved into the No. 1 spot in both rankings today after having spent the last few weeks at No. 2.
The Cardinal currently sit atop the Pac-10 standings, a game and a half in front of Washington. The Huskies are two games ahead of third-place UCLA and three in front of four teams tied for fourth. The Stanford-UW series is the only conference series this weekend as many teams have the weekend off for finals and UCLA and Arizona are playing one another in a non-league series.
Friday night's game begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, game time is 1:00 p.m. All three games will air live on KKNW AM-1150 and Saturday's contest will be televised live by Fox Sports Northwest.
