Bowers Adds Two More For 2012

April 18, 2011
SEATTLE - Head gymnastics coach Joanne Bowers announced the addition of Madison Kratzke and Doris Lynk to the 2012 team. Both gymnasts had scholarship offers elsewhere but have decided to walk-on at UW as freshmen.
Kratzke (Edmonds-Woodway HS, Edmonds, Wash.) is from the same local gym that former UW great Kristen Linton trained at, Seattle Gymnastics Academy. Her personal best scores as a Level 10 have been a 9.625 on vault, 9.600 on bars, 9.400 on beam, 9.450 on floor and a 37.150 in the all-around. Since January 2011, she has competed in six meets in the all-around and finished in the top 10 on every event except two. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies, and listening to music.
"A great education, wonderful facilities, and an amazing gymnastics program," are three components that make Kratzke excited to attend the University of Washington next year.
Lynk hails from Chandler, Ariz., where she attends Corona del Sol High School and competes for Desert Lights Gymnastics. Some of her honors include: 2010 Most Improved Vaulter of the Year, 2010 Most Improved Bar Worker of the Year, 2005-2011 Region 1 regional qualifier and medalist, 2011 Arizona State vault and floor silver medalist and bars and beam bronze medalist. Some of her hobbies include watching movies, cooking, and hanging out with friends.
When asked why Lynk chose Washington, she responded "I loved the school and the beautiful campus, the coaches and all the girls on my new team. I felt that the University of Washington was the perfect place for me."
Back in November of 2010, four gymnasts signed National Letters of Intent for 2012. Kratzke and Lynk will join McKenzie Fechter, Brittany Kinal, Jaclyn McCartin, and Madison Podlucky as freshmen in the fall.
