Mackenzie Ninth In LPGA Event

MOBILE, Ala. -- UW golf alum Paige Mackenzie shot an even-par 72 in the final round of the Avnet LPGA Classic on Sunday to finish tied for ninth with three others at -4 (284).
Her finish at The Crossing Course in Mobile, Ala. was a season-best result in four tournaments for Mackenzie.
Among Americans, Mackenzie was the second highest finisher. She won $25,636 for her efforts this week and upped her season money total to $63,486.
Mackenzie, a 2006 UW grad, fought hard to get her Sunday's even-par round. She had to make up for a pair of bogeys on the front nine and was able to get back the strokes with birdies on No. 7 and 11. She would bogey No. 12, but respond immediately with a birdie on 13 to get back even, where she would ultimately finish.
Maria Hjorth finished at 10-under 278 and won the tournament by two strokes over Song-Hee Kim.
