Washington's '12 pitchings staff is deep and talented.
PERSONAL: Born in Nogales, Ariz. ... son of Marcella and Heriberto Zuniga ... has a brother, Eric, and a sister, Erica ... brother played college football at Western New Mexico and sister is a cheerleader at Northern Arizona ... undeclared major, but considering law, justice & society.
WASHINGTON
2012: Didn't see any action during 2012 and thus utilized a redshirt season ... will be a third-year sophomore in 2013.
PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played one season at Pima (Tucson, Ariz.), under coach Jason Hisey ... earned second-team All-ACCAC ... went 7-4 with a 3.00 earned run average as a freshman ... worked 87 innings.
NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL: Played three seasons on the varsity under coach O.J. Favela ... two-time team captain ... as a senior in 2010, went 7-3 with a 2.40 earned run average and 101 strikeouts in 63 innings ... named Kino Region Player of the Year, first-team All-Kino Region and first-team All-Southern Arizona as a senior ... as a junior, was 9-1 with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 71 in 65 innings ... earned first-team All-Kino Region as a junior ... honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore in 2008 ... also lettered in football for three seasons ... first-team all-conference, All-Southern Arizona and led Southern Arizona in passing with 2,246 yards as a senior ... threw 27 touchdown passes and only six interceptions as a senior ... also second-team all-conference in 2008.
