Bill May begins his fourth season as a member of the Huskies’ coaching staff, but his first as a full-time assistant coach. May served the previous three years as UW’s volunteer coach. A former Washington player, May will continue his duties as goalkeeping coach. After red-shirting the 1993 season at the UW, May went on to earn four letters at Washington, starting 67 matches in four years as the Huskies’ No. 1 keeper. May earned MPSF All-Mountain Division honorable mention as both a junior and a senior.
During his senior campaign, May was named to the All-Far West team and was also a second-team Academic All-American. His career goals-against average was a sparkling 0.90 and he recorded 233 saves and a total of 24 shutouts during his tenure in goal.
After college, May played professional soccer for the Seattle Sounders and the San Francisco Bay Area Seals in the A-League while also earning call-ups with the San Jose Clash and the Los Angeles Galaxy. He retired in 2000.
May was a two-time all-league goalkeeper and team MVP at Moreau High in Castro Valley, Calif.
In 1999, May married Allison Williams, a former UW women’s soccer player. The couple has one child, Abigail, born Sept. 19, 2002.
