In his first season in Seattle, Grady helped the Huskies to their 21st national championship as Washington won the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity fours titles at the IRA National Championship Regatta.
After attending high school in Pittsburgh, Pa., Grady attended Cornell, where he rowed, graduating in 2019. He competed in the U.S. four at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and also earned gold and silver medals at the 2022 and 2023 World Rowing Championships. In 2018, he won a gold medal in the U.S. men's eight at Under 23 World Championships. That crew, coached by Husky head coach Michael Callahan, included six UW oarsmen.
Grady is married to the former Phoebe Marks-Nicholes, an NCAA Champion coxswain at Washington who now works in the UW's Student-Athlete Academic Services department.
