2019 (As A Sophomore)
Went 8-13 in her sophomore season playing at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 … had the most success teaming with Callie Weber, as the two went 7-9 together in dual play, all seven wins at No. 5 … also went 1-4 overall with Emma Calle … went long distance often with Weber, as nine of their 16 matches together went three sets … a big win with Weber in their season finale together, as they beat California’s Dueck/Waldburger at No. 5 in the Pac-12 Championships, 21-18, 11-21, 15-12 … a close 21-19, 21-18 loss to USC’s Dorn/Ebertin at No. 5 in the Pac-12 Champs … twice went to a third set against Hawaii’s No. 5 tandem of Dreeuws/Russo but fell short in both … a 23-21, 16-21, 15-11 win over Stanford’s Anderson/Red-Horse Mohl on Apr. 6 at the No. 5 spot … a tight 18-21, 21-16, 15-12 loss to Arizona’s Parker/Havili on Mar. 29 at Alki Beach … won first three matches with Weber, over Colorado Mesa, Nebraska, and CSU Bakersfield … with Calle, had a 21-7, 21-13 win over Portland’s Hughes/Reich at No. 5.

Started four matches in her first season, going 2-2 … was 1-2 teaming with Kara Bajema and 1-0 with Samantha Drechsel … her one match with Drechsel was a three set win over Boise State’s Hanses/Southwick, 21-14, 19-21, 15-10, on Mar. 30 … with Bajema, had a win against Vanguard’s Mitchell/Carroll, 21-6, 21-11, at No. 5 … a 21-14, 21-11 loss to fifth-ranked Long Beach State’s Matt/Ramsey at No. 5 on Mar. 22.
High School and Personal: Born in Torrance, California ... parents are Annie and Cory Newton ... has one younger sister, Piper ... mother ran track and cross country at UCLA ... played in dozens of junior beach tournaments during her prep career ... finished 37th at the 2016 USA Volleyball High Performance National 18U beach tournament ... won a bronze medal at the 2013 AAU National Championships in the 14-under division.
