Laura Freimuth serves as the director of basketball administration. She will enter her 12th season with the Huskies in 2025-26.
During the Huskies’ 2024-25 NCAA Tournament run and transition to the Big Ten conference, Freimuth was essential in overseeing the program’s budget, team travel, day-to-day operations, and event coordination. In her more than 10 years at Washington, Freimuth has helped the Huskies navigate several shifts in the collegiate landscape, including pandemic procedures and a transition to the Big Ten conference. During these changes, Freimuth has served as a primary contact for other areas of the athletic department, communicating on behalf of women’s basketball. Internally, she maintains a shared schedule for the program, supervises student-managers, and contributes to recruiting efforts and game-day operations.
Freimuth came to Washington after serving as an assistant coach at California Lutheran University, where she led the team to a fourth-place SCIAC finish and advanced to the SCIAC tournament semifinals.
Prior to California Lutheran, Freimuth was an assistant at Long Beach State. In 2012-13, LBSU earned an at-large bid to the WNIT, marking the first national postseason tournament appearance in 13 years.
Freimuth began her professional career at the University of Southern California, where she worked as a graduate assistant and video coordinator for the Women of Troy. Soon after, she was promoted to the Director of Operations for Women’s Basketball.
While at USC, the Trojans advanced to the Pac-10 Championship Final for the first time in program history in 2009. The team also appeared in the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Tournaments, advancing to the second round both times.
Freimuth also served as an advanced scout for the WNBA's New York Liberty in 2008.
Freimuth earned her master’s degree in postsecondary administration and student affairs, with an emphasis in athletic administration, from USC in 2008. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from USC in 2005.
