Gordon Getsinger joined the Washington women's rowing staff at the start of the 2021-22 school year. The 2025-26 season will be his fifth with the Huskies.
During his time at Washington, the Huskies have continued to perform as one of the nation's strongest and most consistent women's rowing programs, finishing in the top five in each of his four seasons so far.
In 2025, Washington made a big step, moving to the Big Ten Conference. The Huskies met the challenge, sweeping all seven conference championship finals to win the UW athletic department's first Big Ten title. The Huskies were only the second program in conference history to sweep every final.
Washington also continued its run of top-five NCAA finishes in 2025, earning the fourth-place trophy at the national championship regatta.
In 2024, the Huskies finished fifth at NCAA Championships, as once again, all three crews advanced to the grand finals.
In 2023. Washington headed to the NCAA Championships seeded No. 8 overall in the varsity eight and No. 4 in the second varsity eight. Had those seedings borne out, UW's streak of podium (top-four) finishes would end. Instead, the Huskies finished second in both of the top-two races, earning themselves the silver medal as a team as well.
In 2022, Getsinger was part of a coaching staff that led the UW to ts seventh consecutive top-five finish at the NCAA Championships, as the Huskies finished fourth.
A former IRA freshman eights championship-winning rower at California and a member of the U.S. Junior National Team coaching staff, Getsinger joins the Huskies after having spent the last seven years at Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport, Conn., where he served as women's head coach from 2015 through fall of 2021, and director of rowing from 2018 until the fall of 2021. He started out as lightweight head coach and first assistant at Saugatuck for the 2014-15 season.
In 2021, Getsinger coached his Saugatuck team to a U17 National Championship. The following summer, he coached both Under-23 and Junior national team boats for USRowing. Under his direction, the U.S. women's pair won silver and his lightweight pair won bronze at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships.
Prior to 2021, Getsinger coached five Saugatuck openweight eights and two lightweight eights to national titles. His crews have won the Head of the Charles five times and the San Diego Crew Classic three times.
Prior to moving to Saugatuck, Getsinger coached at the Asheville (N.C.) Youth Rowing Association in 2013-14, NorCal Crew (Redwood City, Calif.) in 2012-13, and at Saugatuck as men's novice coach in 2010-11.
A graduate of Salisbury (Conn.) School, Getsinger attended the University of California, earning his bachelor's degree in history in 2009. While at Cal, he won a national title in the men's freshman eight in 2005. He also won a silver at IRAs in 2008, and twice took second at Pac-10 Championships. He began his coaching career in 2010 at Saugatuck as the novice boys coach, and in 2011, while training at the California Rowing Club as an elite rower, he served as a novice coach at NorCal Crew.
