Nate Tewell was promoted to general manager following the 2023-24 season. Previously, he served as the chief of staff/director of player personnel and influence and as the teamβs multimedia designer after joining the Huskies in June 2021.
Β
At Washington, Tewellβs primary responsibilities include navigating potential sponsorships, supporting student-athletes in career development and wellness, coordinating external relations and branding related to the program, and strategically planning the teamβs approach to revenue sharing in the new world of collegiate athletics. With a focus on preparing players for life beyond basketball, Tewell helps players develop job-searchΒ strategies and build the personal and professional skills necessary to take on those roles. Additionally, he supports endeavors for players in the NIL space by helping them filter opportunities and navigate the complexities of being a student-athlete at the highest level.
Β
Now entering his fifth year in Seattle, Tewell led media and branding efforts during his first two seasons. During that time, most of his efforts went toward producing recruiting materials, promotional content, and internal projects. Outside his media responsibilities, Tewell supported team operations and assisted with other staff activities.
Β
Before joining the Huskies, Tewell graduated from Duke University in May 2021 with a degree in psychology and neuroscience. While in Durham, he was a practice player on the womenβs basketball team and helped run camps, create recruiting materials, and scout opponents. Tewell also co-founded Coach2Inspire, a nonprofit that connects college students with under-resourced youth sports leagues and helped launch the inaugural Duke Sports Business Conference. He serves on the alumni boards for both organizations.
Β
Nate credits his work ethic and values to his parents, Ryan and Holly Tewell, and his three younger siblings: Hope, Tyler, and Ellie.
