Lana Harshman, a University of Washington alumnus, joined the Washington women’s rowing coaching staff in January 2016. Lana grew up in Stanwood Washington and rowed at Everett Rowing Association for 3 years while attending Stanwood High School.
In 2009 she joined the Washington women’s rowing team as a freshmen and continued to row for all four years. Some of her racing achievements include an undefeated freshmen season that concluded with a Pac-10 gold medal, a fourth place finish at NCAAs in 2011 in the Varsity 4+ event, and racing in the JV 8+ for the 2012 and 2013 seasons which included a 3rd place finish at the Pac-12 Championship. Lana was also elected Commodore her senior year and Captain for the racing season.
Lana graduated the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s of Science majoring in Biology and minoring in Classics in August of 2013. She was a frequent member of the Athletic Honor Roll and made Dean’s List on multiple occasions.
Since graduating, she has been working at the University of Washington in Genome Sciences as a Research Scientist. Her coaching experience includes coaching at the Everett Rowing Association as the women’s team head coach for summer session as well as assistant coach for the Seattle Area Rowing Association summer camp that practiced out of the Conibear Shellhouse.
