
Husky Men's Soccer Battles To 0-0 Overtime Tie Against San Jose State

SEATTLE - The Washington men's soccer team played 120 minutes of scoreless soccer on the first day of the NIKE Husky Classic on Friday against San Jose State to record their second tie of the season. UW, now 3-3-2, will play on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Fresno State, which lost to Portland, 3-1, in the first game of the day.
The Huskies outshot the Spartans 16-9 and had a 10-7 corner-kick advantage but could not net a goal. UW keeper Chad Olsen made two saves, while SJSU's netminder Gilbert Vega had three.
In the first game, Portland opened the scoring at 40:17, when Kelly Gray knocked the ball into an open net after the ball deflected off the Fresno State keeper on a pass back. FSU evened the score at 56:36 when Ryan Katz headed in a cross by Dana McGregor. Portland's Conor Casey then scored twice to put the game away. At 64:08, he used a cross from Casey Barber for a header in traffic, and then he chipped a long shot over FSU's keeper at 87:35.
