We played 34 minutes tonight. A few minutes in the first half and the last
few in the second half got away from us. I thought we fought very hard to
get back in the game. We were down two with just over four minutes to
go. We just did not take care of the ball. We allowed too much
inside. Arizonas front line played a tremendous game tonight. They were
really tough. I like the fact that we outrebounded them, but we really had
trouble getting the stops we needed down the stretch.
When we played man-to-man, we did a decent job of keeping it out of the post, but when we went zone, we didnt get enough pressure on the wings and up top. The high-low up top was really tough for us.
(on Andrea Lalums play)
She had a tremendous game for a freshman in this
type of environment. She showed a lot of poise and gave us a great lift
off the bench. It was too bad she got in foul trouble. She gave us a great
presence inside. In the first half, (Carli) Halpenny did the same thing
for us.
(down the stretch)
They changed their press a little bit and we did not do
a good job of moving the basketball against it. At that point, they got
some momentum and the crowd really got going. We need to be able to handle
those types of surges and finish strong. I really thought those three
minutes were key.
Obviously, the game was closer than the score looks when you pick up the newspaper Sunday morning. I thought we fought back and played hard. We got some help off the bench with Halpenny, Lalum and Jill Pimley. But again, we have to be able to finish strong and play all 40 minutes.

Arizona is a good team. They have great post players. We give them credit
for that. They were beating us on transition. Every time, their posts were
making it down the floor before any of us got back. We need to work on
that for next time we face them and every other opponent in the Pac-10.
