Washington-Arizona State Game Notes

Dec. 29, 2004
The win was Washington's ninth in a row over Arizona State at home, dating back to a 1996 Sun Devils win at the old Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Interestingly, the Huskies are 2-7 against Arizona State on road or neutral courts in that span.
Tonight's game was the first in June Daugherty's nine years at Washington that the Huskies won without a three-pointer. Washington was 0-for-7 from three-point range, both figures season-lows for a UW team that entered the game averaging nearly seven threes and 20 three-point attempts per game. The Huskies have been held without a three-pointer on only three other occasions since the start of the 1996-97 season - Daugherty's first at Washington -- with all three previous games resulting in UW losses.
The win was also the Huskies' second over a ranked opponent this season, including the team's Nov. 15 win over 14th-ranked Minnesota. This marks the second time in the past three seasons that Washington has defeated at least two ranked teams.
Eight different players put points on the scoreboard for the Huskies, with five totaling between eight and 12 points. It was a balanced affair from the start for Washington, with those same eight players all scoring in the game's first nine minutes. At that point, Washington led 16-15, with all eight players scoring between one and three points.
Washington forced ASU into 27 turnovers, nearly nine more than its season-average of 18.9 per game. The Sun Devils nearly topped that number in the first half alone, committing 17 turnovers before the intermission. The Huskies, on the other hand, committed 22 turnovers, marking the 11th time in 11 games this season that they have had less turnovers than their opponent.
Washington set season-highs for both free-throws made (25) and attempted (34).
Breanne Watson's eight rebounds were a season-high, and matched her career-high.
